| FAQNot much here yet... If you have a question, use either sourceforge project help forum or use the symsalabim-user maillinglist. Q: SYMSALABIM? Weird nameWell, umm... yes (And very difficult to pronounce) The idea was this: Since SYMSALABIM should appear to do some things in a magicky way, we thought it'd be nice to have that in the projects name. The name is a mix of the word system and simsalabim. Simsalabim is a german word, very much like the english abracadabra. Q: Who's behind thisThe first version of SYMSALABIM was the result of the diploma thesis of M. Hadorn, T. Roschi and P. Seewer (class I99, IT faculty of the UASB), finished in january 2004. During that year the IT services of the UASB where looking for a way to migrate to a common os deployment and inventory management software for all departements. With the enhanced complexity of deploying a dual-boot setup. SYMSALABIM was a candidate and late 2004 it was decided to use SYMSALABIM. Since then the project has been taken up by several people inside the UASB again and further developed to reach the state which is now beeing used inside the UASB. | ||||||||
